Body Control PilatesĀ® is an exercise method originally devised in the early 1900s by Joseph Pilates, who set up a studio in New York and taught dancers, boxers and other sportspeople. Today's exercises, although based on the original method, have been modified to make them suitable for anyone, regardless of age or level of fitness.
Pilates targets the body's core muscles, increasing strength and improving posture. It aims to rebalance all the muscle groups in the body to promote mobility and suppleness.
It is increasingly recommended by physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors to assist rehabilitation from injury and as a way of reducing back and joint pain. Pilates helps relieve stress and tension, and conditions your muscles for a flatter stomach and more toned bottom. Its controlled approach produces long-term results.
Body Control PilatesĀ® teachers can only teach a maximum of 12 people in any one class. This ensures the safety of each client and allows the teacher to give everyone individual attention.
